Participate, Learn, Have Fun, Volunteer!

There are lots of ways to get involved with AdventureCORPS, so here are some suggestions for joining us! The CORPS is for all who are dedicated to adventure, insight, and energy. Join Us!

AdventureCORPS is a fast-moving organization which is constantly "out there"—producing events, publishing articles, supporting charitable and environmental efforts, drumming up media coverage about our events and the athlete-adventurers who do them, and much more. Through it all, the people of AdventureCORPS are themselves also regularly participating in races, expeditions, and other adventurous pursuits. We walk our talk and we love sharing all of this with all of you!

In our day-to-day life, we are dedicated to many things, especially our Prime Directive: "To Seek and Share Adventure." Besides producing world-class events, we also do this by providing useful, inspiring, and entertaining information - plus insights, kudos, and encouragement - through our websites, our two blogs, and our email newsletter. So, if you really want to stay in touch with, and in the loop about, this whirlwind of high-energy activity and the "ever onward and upward" lifestyle that defines AdventureCORPS, here's your Ten Step Program (in no particular order, once you get past Step One):

  1. Subscribe to our email newsletter.
  2. Subscribe to our AdventureCORPS Blog feed.
  3. Subscribe to our Rough Riders Blog feed.
  4. Participate in one or more of our events (see below).
  5. Volunteer at one or more of our events (see below).
  6. Visit these specific webpages - and two blogs - regularly for all the latest happenings:
  7. Learn from The Write Stuff and Downloads.
  8. Support one or more of our Official Charities.
  9. Send us your Sightings, Road Raves, and "Tall Tales" about Badwater, The 508, or Death Valley for possible inclusion on the website.
  10. Study the "AdventureCORPS Way" books and wear the AdventureCORPS Gear available in our store.

Participate
First and foremost, we are a participatory organization! So sign up for, train for, and do one or more of of our events!

Furnace Creek 508, the world's premier ultra cycling event, held in October each year.
Badwater Ultramarathon, the world's premier ultra running event, held in July each year.
Death Valley Century and Double Century, held in February and October each year.
CORPScamp Shasta Snofari, a five-day winter endurance sports adventure held in January each year.
CORPScamp Death Valley, a five-day cycling lifestyle adventure held in February each year.
CORPScamp Shasta, a five-day cycling lifestyle adventure held in late July / early August each year.

Volunteer with AdventureCORPS!
We can only put these events on with the help of loyal, trustworthy, motivated individuals running the checkpoints along the way and providing roving SAG support along the route. To provide a little incentive, we offer one free entry into the Death Valley Century and Double Century (or a $95 credit towards one of the other events, good for one year) if you volunteer. It's a simple formula: "work one, ride one free!" If you are available to lend a hand at one of our events behind the scenes (not on a support crew), please use the Volunteer Form to let us know. Thanks in advance!

Please note: our Badwater Ultramarathon and Furnace Creek 508 events generally have the same race staff each year, so we are not actively soliciting volunteers for those races. However, both events always have entrants in need of dedicated support crew help, so that is a great opportunity to get involved with either or both races. Please use the appropriate section of the AdventureCORPS Online Forum if you want to offer to work on a support crew at Badwater or The 508.

Participate in the AdventureCORPS Blog / Forum
Our blog-based forum is designed as a community-building and informational tool for those who participate in and/or support the AdventureCORPS events held in and around Death Valley and beyond. The rules for use of this forum are pretty simple:

  1. Use a real name and email address when you post to the forum.
  2. Keep it on topic: AdventureCORPS events and directly related issues only.
  3. Keep it clean: no profanity, negativity, or flaming. Note that all content is moderated and no comments actually post to the blog until we approve them.

We really hope this will become a regular meeting place for all Athlete-Adventurers and that it will provide insight and inspiration to help you fulfill your "out there" dreams! Thanks for joining in the conversation and thanks for sharing!
